Kings of the 5th Dynasty built their pyramids at Abusir. There was four main pyramids (Neferefre, Neferirkare, Niuserre and Sahure), of which three still stand (Neferirkare, Niuserre and Sahure).

We went with a guide and a taxi (just my wife and I) to Dashur, Saqqara, Mit Rahina and finally Abusir. On arriving at Abusir, the site seemed to be closed and our guide went into a heated discussion with three attendants at the entrance to the site, eventually it seemed as if we had bribed our way onto the site, as long as two of the attendants came along with us as 'guides' giving us details of the site... A lucky event that got us to see the unusual site of Abusir. We had to do quite a bit of climbing to get to see things as the site had not been 'cleaned up' for public access at the time.
